Overview / Responsibilities


The rapid growth of Amec Foster Wheeler's regional Community Infrastructure group in Western Canada and the increase in the number of new projects has created a temporary (4-5 months) need for a Civil / Municipal Designer / Technologist in our Calgary office. For the right individual, this could lead to a permanent position

In this position you will be required to work within our infrastructure team preparing design and contract drawings, cross-sections, schedules and quantity estimates for municipal road, large scale provincial highway, underground services / utilities and bridge projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior engineers and project Mangers to complete the design and drafting
  • Coordinating project drawings with project managers, CAD staff and others
  • Ensuring that the projects needs are met in a timely and effective manner
  • Coordination with other units in related operations
  • Assure delivery of quality products

Skills / Qualifications

  • A Civil Technologist or Civil Technician diploma
  • 5-10 years’ experience in Municipal Infrastructure design with an emphasis on underground utilities (sewer, water, lift stations)
  • 5 + years’ experience using AutoCAD / LDD
  • Experience with Civil 3D
  • Experience with watermain, sanitary sewer and drainage design projects
  • Experience in Construction Supervision an asset
  • Experience and familiarity with urban street and rural road & highway design projects
  • Familiarity with various Municipal design and drafting standards
  • Strong organizational skills along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments
  • Strong communication skills along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities
  • A willingness to work in a team atmosphere
