Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently recruiting a Junior / Intermediate Web Developer to be located in our Ottawa, Ontario office. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team that supports a 24/7 weather office and caters to clients in a wide variety of fields. The candidate will need to employ a range of skills, from front-end web design and development to back-end data management and processing. A commitment to quality, keen problem-solving skills, and an enthusiasm for learning new technologies are a must.


Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing reliable, high-performance, data-driven applications from the ground up
  • Reviewing, improving, and building upon existing systems
  • Participating in an after-hours support rotation for mission-critical applications
  • Contributing ideas on system architecture, design, and processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, interested in new technology, will have a passion for quality, and a desire for innovation. Will have a well-rounded, full-stack skill set, and will be able to hit the ground running with JavaScript, C#, and T-SQL development.


Minimum Requirements

  • A college or university degree
  • Experience using JavaScript and jQuery in data-driven applications
  • Solid ability in .NET using C#, particularly ASP.NET MVC and WebAPI
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and stored procedures written in T-SQL
  • Web application development experience in a team environment
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience designing responsive web applications with Bootstrap
  • Experience in developing data-driven web pages with AngularJS
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Experience with GIS and web mapping
  • Experience with node.js, Perl, or PowerShell
  • Experience working in a Linux environment
  • Experience with test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous deployment
  • Excellent time management and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a larger team
