Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler is currently recruiting for a Contaminated Land / Remediation Project and Bid Director. This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of the ambitious growth of a highly regarded multi-disciplinary International consultancy headquartered in London.  We have ambitious plans for the continued growth across the UK and Europe and are looking to further strengthen our Site Restoration Services business in the UK.  You will be part of a substantial national group developing our high quality offering and playing a key role in the identification, capture and initial delivery of site restoration projects. Amec Foster Wheeler’s Site Restoration Services consultancy business offers bespoke and tailored consultancy services to drive value from late life assets and bring brownfield land back into beneficial use.  We are seeking candidates with a high level of technical capability along with the ambition to drive the development of new business opportunities and expand a team.  Services include decommissioning, demolition, remediation and earthworks.  We are particularly interested in candidates that have significant experience with clients in either the industrial or oil and gas sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating business development activities, leading bidding activities, developing client relationships and directing project delivery activities. You will be part of a substantial national consultancy group developing our high quality offering at a regional level whilst being involved in exciting projects nationally and assisting the growth of the European team. This role would suit a well-rounded ambitious individual with strong technical background as well as significant track record of client relationship development. 


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Leading the identification and capture of new work including identifying and developing bid opportunities, management of bids and tenders in the UK, and Europe
  • Direction of remediation, decom/demolition projects
  • Key client account management and development
  • Preparation of proposals, bids and tenders
  • Attending and presenting at industry events

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelors or higher in an environmental science or engineering discipline;
  • A high level of technical expertise in either remediation, decommissioning or demolition
  • Excellent client engagement and relationship management skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills;
  • Proven ability to develop and secure new business opportunities
  • Possess a strong network of contacts within the identified sectors
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must possess a driving licence and passport and be willing to travel both within the UK and Europe
  • Well connected and good understanding of the UK market
  • Experienced in the development of client relationships and accounts
  • Experienced in the management and direction of bids, including developing win strategies
  • Strong bid writing and presentation experience
  • Highly experienced in relevant aspects site restoration services (late life asset management, decommissioning, demolition, remediation or brownfield regeneration)
