Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Manager to be based in Izmir, Turkey to work on the construction of the STAR Aegean Refinery. This position will be on a Fixed Term Contract basis and is expected to run until the end of 2018.

The STAR Aegean Refinery is a greenfield complex crude oil refinery in the Izmir region with the capacity to process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day. It comprising various process units including Crude and Vacuum, Coker, MEROX, Hydrocracker, Diesel Hydrotreatment, Naphtha, Amines & SWS, Sulfur and CCR. This project is being executed by an EPC Contractor and Amec Foster Wheeler is delivering Project Management Consultancy services to STAR for this prestige project.

  • Supervise the activities of the Maintenance Group and be responsible for overseeing the accuracy, quality, and performance of the work done for proposals, contracts, and investigations assigned to the Maintenance Group
  • Be responsible for developing maintenance philosophies and strategies, and to ensure that processing plant operations and maintenance related projects conducted by Amec Foster Wheeler are executed with effective use of available technology to achieve a safe and environmentally compliant execution
  • Develop and maintain the capability to audit and assess processing plant maintenance performance with respect to integrity operational safety, and environmental effectiveness
  • Continually monitor requirements based upon current and future defined projects to ensure adequate resources are provided
  • Communicate current and future resource needs and provide work schedules indicating current and future resource requirements to the Managers of Asset Operations & Consultancy and Departmental Planning
  • Participate in interviews with prospective employees and recommend employment with Human Resource department
  • Carry out annual appraisals of maintenance group personnel, and discuss with the Manager, Asset Operations & Consultancy and recommend salary adjustments
  • Plan for the development and training of maintenance personnel and make recommendations
  • Ensure that the requirements of secrecy agreements are strictly adhered to within the maintenance Group and the defined work areas
  • Ensure that the Technical Library containing Maintenance Manuals, Reports, and Site information is kept fully up to date and readily accessible
  • Develop and maintain Department Procedures, Work Practices, Guidelines, and Standards to ensure full compliance with company HSEQ standards
  • Ensure the content and objectives of the Amec Foster Wheeler HSEQ policy is implemented and understood by Amec Foster Wheeler HO Staff and at site
  • Identify Maintenance requirements from initial Project scope documents, then estimate and cost analyse within the Project timeframes
  • Prepare and Conduct Presentations to colleagues and clients at home office and clients premises
  • Give support and guidance to project Maintenance Managers and client Maintenance representatives
  • Selection, installation and administration of client's SAP, Maximo. Pemac or CMMS
  • Manage Technical Authors, Instrument, Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Engineers
  • Liaise with vendors and licensors to ensure smooth faultless handover of information to clients
  • Manage and participate in evaluating plans, work processes, systems and procedures to achieve the required objectives
  • Ensure that the applicable standards and in-country regulatory requirements are strictly adhered to
  • Manage the Company Maintenance budget
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports for company and clients
  • Review site layouts for Maintenance and Operations Access
  • Review site progress reports and assist project staff with any concerns and issues
  • Ensure experience and knowledge gained on projects is captured and incorporated into future projects as needed
  • Ensure Field Performance Audits are performed and any non-conformance reports issued include any action plan

Skills / Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in one of the following disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical or Instrumentation
  • A minimum of 15 years experience working on PMC or EPCm mega projects in the refinery industry
  • Have a proven track record in Maintenance management in this sector
  • Experience of dealing simultaneously with Client, Project Management and Engineering departments
  • Experience with RCM, RBI, HAZOP and FME reviews
  • Fluent in English
