Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler is currently looking for a Concrete Construction Manager to join our growing construction team in Guam. Ideal candidates should be interested in construction business. The construction manager will work directly with our field teams in a “hands on” construction environment.


The Concrete Construction Manager will provide oversight for concrete phases of construction projects including coordinating and managing job site team, material and equipment; and ensuring that specifications are being followed and work is proceeding on schedule within budget and with the highest level of quality.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of concrete construction with the project team, client and subcontractors
  • Work with the superintendent to ensure that forming systems are coordinated with the engineer of record and safe
  • Coordinate concrete work with other trades and testing agencies on site
  • Assist in coordination and management of on-site concrete batch plant to ensure adherence to structural parameters of project and avoid interference with concrete operations
  • Understand and execute assigned engineering tasks within the project scope
  • Develop a detailed project plan schedule, submittal schedule with project superintendent to monitor and track progress of all deliveries (Rebar-PT-Concrete materials, Consumables)
  • Set up weekly in house coordination meetings
  • Prepares and coordinates with project superintendents weekly and by-weekly meeting agendas
  • Build comprehensive project execution, quality and risk management plans
  • Successfully execute projects within contracted schedule and budget
  • Responding to field and client information requests
  • Enhancing and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers and clients
  • Perform field explorations, inspection, and analysis and provide technical support with supervision including onsite direction of geotechnical drilling activities
  • Contact vendors research literature, regulatory requirements and prepare draft designs
  • Conduct engineering or scientific calculations, coordinate geometry perform minimal design work, preliminary analysis and layout, and perform routine calculations
  • Perform inspection of engineering projects in regard to compliance to project plans and specifications
  • Provide review for RFI, COC’s, CTR’s and submittals for projects and makes recommendations regarding suitability
  • Understand and interpret plans and specifications
  • Review contractor change order requests
  • Review / audit contractor health and safety plans, contractor payroll, traffic control and erosion control measures on projects
  • Verify quantities for contractor payment
  • Identify non-conformance issues with construction work and helps develop potential resolution of non-conformance issues
  • Develop and complete project documentation

Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of construction management experience 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in concrete construction
  • Must have commercial concrete experience
  • BS or MS in Engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional Engineer license
  • ICC Certified – Reinforced Concrete; ACI Certified
  • Proficient in basic project management software including Microsoft project, Primavera, and other pertinent software programs
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Willing to mentor a small group of junior Engineers
  • Familiarity with construction materials testing procedures and ASTM standards
  • Enthusiastic and self-starter with desire to provide excellent service to clients
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy
  • US Citizenship required

Physical Demands

  • May be required lifting up to 50 pounds and traverse over rugged terrain
