Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure currently has an opportunity available for a Construction Manager to support the renovation of a computing lab in Maui, HI.


This is a design-build project and the Construction Manager will be on site throughout construction and be responsible for monitoring the day-to-day field operations, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and cost goals are achieved.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for the project, monitoring the execution of the project scope during construction, commissioning and project turn-over
  • Manage construction execution across multiple subcontractors and ensure products are in accordance with plans and specifications
  • Assist with subcontractor progress payment submissions
  • Ensure equipment and material are delivered on time and installed in accordance with the plans and specifications
  • Provide input on facility design and constructability
  • Coordinate with schedulers to maintain the project schedule to ensure deadlines are met and to minimize impacts with any unforeseen delays
  • Track project costs and expenditures against the budget and forecast costs to completion
  • Maintain a change order log and assist in preparing and estimating change proposals
  • Establish standards for quality and production and ensure compliance with the plans and specifications, safety codes and other pertinent regulations
  • Identify and assist in the mitigation of project risks and monitor the development and implementation of corrective action plans
  • Work closely with the client’s onsite management and operations personnel to keep them apprised of project status
  • Coordinate and attend / conduct all necessary project meetings
  • Assist in the preparing of weekly and monthly reports covering scope, budget and overall project status
  • Prepare daily construction reports
  • Ensure all required project documentation is completed in a timely manner and is maintained in the appropriate master project files inclusive of all reports, logs, submittals, RFIs, specifications and drawings, correspondence and other relevant documentation
  • Review design and construction bid packages
  • Enforce all health and safety plan regulations

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a relevant Engineering field
  • 10+ years of construction management experience, preferably with a history of successful execution of design-build projects
  • Completion of USACE QC Manager course in the last 5 years
  • Completion of OSHA 30 hour safety course
  • Experience with Government and / or Department of Defense contracts a plus
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or other similar certifications, preferred
  • Knowledgeable in major regulations, industry codes and standards as well as basic construction materials, means and methods
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
