Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer for our Guam office at Andersen Air Force Base to support operations for mid-to-large size projects. This includes developing and managing project control systems and tools to provide effective management of project tasks. Provide support as well as recommendations to the Project Manager and Project Management Team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Understand all relevant documentation pertaining to the project including scope of work, conditions of contract, specifications, drawings, project execution plan, project schedule, etc.
  • Work within standard project planning / scheduling procedures. Ensure that these procedures comply with contractual reporting requirements and if not modify accordingly
  • Prepare activity plans to accomplish all work required by the procedures
  • Liaise with client project control personnel as necessary
  • Timely preparation and issue of
    • Overall project schedule
    • Project network
    • Manpower projection plan
    • Critical equipment lists / schedules
    • Progress 's' curves and tabulations
    • Man-hour / manpower histograms
    • Short term look ahead schedules
    • Monthly progress report including narrative
  • Ensure that all involved parties participate in preparation of items described in item 5 and that they agree to their respective elements and approve documents where necessary
  • Produce current physical progress reports and final job statistics
  • Prepare and issue project action reports (monthly) to Project Manager
  • Maintain accurate schedule and control curves in an updated conditions and prepare forecasts of trends
  • When nominated act as a sponsor to trainees, regularly review their progress and make periodic reports to the Chief Planning Engineer
  • Must have a full understanding of the EVMS process
  • Participate in an active role in risk management activities
  • Attend management, project team and customer meetings and requested by the Project Manager
  • Conduct and document schedule review meetings  
  • Archive actual successful schedules as templates for estimating future similar projects

Skills / Qualifications

  • Technical College Graduate or Engineering Degree and a minimum of 10 years of related experience
  • Experience working in a Consulting Engineering (EPC) environment and familiarity with typical engineering disciplines and documentation
  • Highly Proficient in using Primavera (P6) and MS Project scheduling software 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with clients and staff at all levels
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in vertical and horizontal construction is preferred particularly with construction experience from field assignments
  • Detail oriented, proactive approach and have good organizational and planning skills
  • Advanced computer and word processing skills using MS Office applications
  • Knowledgeable in contract terms and guidelines and understand budget requirements
  • In depth understanding of client contractual requirements and ability to translate to assist project and program management team
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Ability to coordinate several high-priority deadlines simultaneously
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility when dealing with changing priorities
  • Exhibit an extremely high level of professionalism and superior attention to details
  • Aptitude to exercise foresight as well as good business judgment to anticipate and solve problems with minimal oversight
  • Ability to work in a team or independently in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • US citizenship required
