Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure has an immediate opening for an experienced transportation Construction Materials Testing Technician in Western Colorado. Our ideal candidate has superb technical capabilities, a commitment to delivering a quality product and the ability to provide expert service to key clientele throughout Colorado. Compensation includes a competitive benefits package, paid lodging, per diem and travel expenses and pay rate range of $25.00 to $30.00/hour for qualified applicants that meet the role requirements

Key Responsibilities


  • Will sample, test and document all materials on transportation construction projects
  • Will create and maintain documentation for the project - Our ideal candidate has excellent organizational, writing and documentation skills
  • Will use a laptop computer to write field reports summarizing daily activities/observations material quantities and density calculations and results
  • Perform soil density testing using both nuclear gauge and sand cone in accordance with ASTM/AASHTO and project specifications on site
  • Perform sampling and testing of concrete and asphalt in accordance with ASTM/AASHTO and project specifications
  • Test and work in accordance with Company safety policies
  • Will interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites
  • Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data
  • Will travel and work at construction sites within Colorado - Travel, hotel and per diem provided for field assignments outside the Denver area

Skills / Qualifications

  • Must have CDOT QA experience with references
  • Have current certifications or the ability to obtain within one month of hire
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 -10 + years construction materials testing experience
  • Ability to prepare reports and documentation - Our ideal candidate has excellent organizational, writing and documentation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with a team
  • Proficient computer skills required
  • Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground and work in variable outside conditions
  • Ability to work various shifts depending upon construction schedules
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work at construction sites within Colorado
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
