Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a Project Controls Professional to join our team in Portland, ME for work on remediation and construction projects.


The Portland office includes a multi-disciplinary engineering/architecture design team with over 150 engineers, scientists, architects, surveyors, designers and support staff and works on projects throughout the U.S. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging projects for a wide range of clients from the relaxed environment of a small, vibrant city.


Key Responsibilities


The project controls professional will support remediation and construction projects. The position will provide project planning, scheduling, cost tracking, and project financial support for government and commercial projects. This position offers the opportunity to interact with other project controls professionals in other Amec Foster Wheeler offices. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects to address complex environmental challenges executing the following roles/responsibilities:


  • Provide proposal support to include schedules, reports, cost analysis, and other Primavera supporting functions
  • Develop WBS and project coding structures
  • Develop and maintain cost loaded schedules for environmental construction related projects
  • Conduct project performance analysis using earned value techniques
  • Support reporting requirements for invoice submittals and monthly status reports
  • Maintain project budget and forecast spending plans
  • Download and analyze project expenditures, commitments, and invoicing data
  • Utilize project management systems to update and manage project budgets, commitments, expenditures and forecasts

Skills / Qualifications


  • AS in Business, Construction Management, or other related discipline
  • 3 - 10 years’ project controls/cost-schedule experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (including Access)
  • Proficiency with Primavera
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Demonstrated consistency and attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to travel - Anticipated travel expected to be less than 10% overnight travel; however, extended travel up to two weeks is possible at times
  • Adaptability and willingness to adjust to client needs
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if required
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team


  • BS in Business, Construction Management, or other related discipline
  • Formal project controls training/certification
  • Experience in environmental consulting
  • Construction experience
  • Cost estimating experience
