Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure has an immediate career opportunity for a Senior Environmental Technician to join our Puget Sound area team to support commercial, industrial and government projects. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute hands-on support for environmental remediation efforts throughout the Puget Sound and West Coast.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assigned to projects involving environmental remediation sites including wastewater treatment facilities, remediation systems and industrial facilities
  • Work both in the field and in the office
  • Conduct routine monitoring, repairs, maintenance and operations of environmental treatment mechanical and electrical systems in close coordination with engineer-of-record
  • Complete prescribed maintenance and monitoring tasks safely, on schedule and in close coordination with the engineer-of-record
  • Communicate orally and in written field reports with onsite industrial maintenance personnel and engineer-of-record
  • Install, maintain and repair pressure, ball valves, pumps, blowers, as needed
  • Perform fabrication such as drilling, cutting, welding on metal as needed
  • Follow SOPs and maintenance manuals as provided
  • Mechanical operation of equipment as authorized by training and experience
  • Identify, determine cause, and solve issues associated with operations and maintenance inspections

Skills / Qualifications


  • 3 – 5+ years of progressive experience as Wastewater or Water Treatment Operator
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites throughout the Puget Sound
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
  • High school diploma or GED with technical college coursework in mechanical, electrical or plumbing


  • Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I or II, Water Distribution Manager II
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certified
  • Cross Connection Control Specialist
  • Qualified Operator for forklift and backhoe

Physical Demands

  • Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather
  • Work safely around rotating equipment, high voltage, high pressure, heavy construction, confined spaces and toxic gases
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand / work for up to 10 hours / day
  • Must be able to don personal protective equipment and medically qualified to wear respirator
  • Willingness to work extended shifts and be on-call for emergencies
