Overview / Responsibilities
Amec Foster Wheeler Nuclear Canada is currenty recruiting graduates from the class of 2017. We are an engineering, nuclear safety and technical analysis company. We provide specialized services primarily to the power generation industry. Headquartered in downtown Toronto, we have over 500 staff, and we provide technical solutions to clients world-wide. Our work involves design engineering in all disciplines, and performing safety and engineering analyses. Staff provide technical support to operating nuclear plants.
The work involves performing safety and engineering analyses, and conducting engineering design using state-of-the-art engineering software and methodologies, and interfacing with other engineering disciplines. Major areas of effort include the provision of engineering and technical services in support of the safe operation of nuclear power plants, as well as large scale reactor refurbishment projects and the building of new nuclear power plants. Employees will also contribute to design engineering and analysis work for nuclear power plants, conventional power plants and other process industries, participate in the technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting to support refurbishment and operating units, provide fitness for service assessments for components and plants, and assist senior engineers and project managers in execution of large scale engineering programs and projects and in providing technical interface with utility clients and specialist regulatory staff.
Skills / Qualifications
The successful candidate is expected to have sound fundamental knowledge of engineering and science principles; applicants with post-graduate degrees are also strongly encouraged to apply. The position is suitable for candidates with superior analytical and problem solving skills, as well as an aptitude in numerical/computational analysis. Candidates with advanced knowledge in various disciplines, such as computational fluid dynamics, two-phase flow and heat transfer, engineering material properties, stress analyses, fracture mechanics, electrical, mechanical or civil design engineering, risk assessment and physics are highly desirable. Additional experience or exposure to engineering project management and scheduling is also desirable. Excellent written and oral communication, time management, and interpersonal skills are required. You are innovative, enthusiastic and ready to join a leading engineering, project management and consultancy company and be part of our dynamic team. You will be provided with extensive training opportunities in plant process design and operation, the use of analysis and design software and methods, and Project Management. During the initial employment period (lasting up to two years), new employees will be given the opportunity to work in a number of technical and engineering areas and will work at one of our client sites.
A minimum of a 4-year university degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Civil, Materials, or Nuclear Engineering, Engineering Science, Physics, Mathematics or equivalent is required.
