Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a part-time Instrument Person / Survey Technician Level II to join our team in Orlando.   


Key Responsibilities

  • Assists Party Chief in obtaining survey measurements
  • Be able to operate a total station with data collector, GPS equipment, digital level, conventional level and other kinds of surveying equipment
  • Coordinate field equipment and ensure that all necessary equipment is accounted for at the beginning and end of each day
  • Cut line and set points
  • Punctual with a willingness to learn new things 

Skills / Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of related experience
  • Skilled in operating various types of surveying equipment (i.e. GPS equipment, total stations, levels, etc)
  • Adequate written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work out of town when requested
  • Must be able to get along with others
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours
  • Drug screen and criminal background check
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding field work 


  • CST Level One certification or higher
  • Appropriate health and safety knowledge / training 

Physical Demands

  • Requires work in an outdoor environment on a daily basis which includes hot and cold weather, job site hazards (including traffic), etc
  • Being able to walk long distances at times
  • Lifting up to 50lbs, walking on uneven terrain, climbing and visual acuity at a distance
  • Cut open line through brush
