Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure’s Phoenix office is seeking an Entry Level Environmental Technician (Full Time) to support our growing environmental compliance practice. Our office is a leading engineering consulting business in Arizona, providing multi-disciplinary solutions covering all aspects of environmental consulting services, geotechnical engineering, infrastructure design and management, construction services, materials testing / engineering and water supply and resources services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with senior level environmental technicians to operate, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot remediation systems including soil vapor extraction, groundwater extraction, air sparge and in-situ treatment equipment
  • Collect process vapor, soil vapor, groundwater and soil samples and prepare appropriate chains of custody and other field records including recording field data, and preparation of summary reports
  • Perform field tests according to prescribed procedures, processes and standards using field instruments and other environmental test equipment
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and complete field logs and prepare reports electronically

Skills / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good mechanical skills
  • Basic computer literacy including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to use environmental field test equipment in an effective and safe manner
  • Ability to understand procedural manuals and execute work orders
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability and willingness to travel to projects sites primarily in Arizona (90%) with occasional out of state travel (10%)

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to use hands to operate field equipment
  • Close, distance and peripheral vision; normal auditory function
  • Must complete employment physical demonstrating ability to meet job requirements including the ability to wear a respirator as required
  • Completion of annual or bi-annual emplment physical as required
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
  • Must pass Health and Safety Training and Defensive Driving Courses upon hire
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites primarily in Arizona
