Purpose



  • Lead as a Performance Consultant for the US Retail business - supporting the delivery of business priorities through structured capability-building of the Wholesalers, Dealers and Site Staff.

     



  • Collaborate with internal (senior business leaders, functional managers, HR & learning community) and external (third party contractors, wholesalers, dealers, site staff) stakeholders to identify & deliver creative, cost effective and sustainable learning solutions, in line with global guidelines and local requirements

     



  • Develop and own the delivery of a robust US Retail Learning Plan that is aligned with key business aspirations (Being the Brand of Choice for our Customers, Partners and Shareholders).

     



  • Work closely and coach other staff in HR on Retail Learning strategy & implementation, processes and systems.

     



  • Demonstrate leadership when working with other Learning Advisors by proactively sharing and embedding best practices across Americas and Global Retail Learning

     



  • Partner with the Downstream External Learning Team in support of defining and executing the Indirect Workforce strategy.

     



Accountabilities

Provide learning support in line with Global Retail and US market business priorities.  Develop & demonstrate a strong understanding & visible expertise in the following:
 



  • Retail Learning Offer – Intimate Knowledge of the curriculum, global competence frameworks, DS Retail Learning SharePoint Portal  & delivery mediums (such as Shell Open University and Retail Learning portals)

     



  • Business Knowledge - including the customer offer, local operating platforms and the US business plan to ensure learning support is fully-aligned

     



  • Strategic Focus – Demonstrate ability to link deliverables amongst the business, HR and learning priorities and articulate the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours of a Performance consultant, including an understanding of the 70-20-10 model in both the design and delivery.

     



  • Strong Business Partnering - Develop and Sustain strong business partnerships with key stakeholders (senior business leaders in Sales & Ops, Marketing, Network, Finance, HR) to enable a firsthand understanding of development needs and work to improve the overall effectiveness of learning interventions.

     



  • Learning Commerciality - Bring a stronger focus on running learning like a business by ensuring the US Learning Plan and activities supporting it are directly linked to the financial targets, maintained, monitored and updated regularly. Communicate learning data to HR and COB/F partners to allow leaders to make informed learning and development decisions.

     



  • Development of Robust Learning Plans - Ensure the implementation of both global and local learning projects and learning interventions; inclusive of training events for Wholesalers and site staff across the country.

     



  • Ensure training materials are kept up-to-date and timely records are maintained
     

     



  • Act as focal point for assuring Wholesale model is represented in global program development
     

     



  • Ensure delivery of Treated Like a Guest (TLAG) principles to all wholesalers, retailers and site staff in US in line with global implementation guidelines.
     

     



  • Ensure Wholesaler Orientation training and other standardized training is offered in a consistent and standard format (addressing local business needs and in line with global Retail Learning guidelines).
     

     



  • Work with Learning Event Management (LEM) support to ensure end-to-end planning and execution of learning events as well as post-event evaluations
     

     



  • Support Retail Learning manager in actively managing learning spend through efficient utilization of resources.

     



  • Learning and Development Expertise - Demonstrate strong expertise in training and facilitation skills, including (but not limited to) the use of various learning tools, media and methods with diverse audiences; Act as a coach in the learning team as well as for the Retail business.

     



  • MI Reporting - Initiates proactive and/or corrective action to identify and recommend improvements to address data quality issues by applying concepts, principles and tools. Articulates and consults regarding the use of HR/Learning metrics to stakeholders to ensure that HR information delivers value to the business / function and improving individual capabilities.

     



  • Global Project Management – Lead and participate on global Retail learning initiatives as required

    Retail is a highly dynamic business with success being heavily dependent on the ability of site staff to create a positive experience for customers time after time regardless of which Retail outlet they visit. This requires that site staff, who are not managed by Shell, to be properly trained to deliver the Shell customer value proposition.

    This role requires someone that thrives in an environment where you must balance delivering against local market operational development needs while also promoting, leveraging and embracing globally developed content (whenever possible).

    This role will work closely (in a supportive and partnering capacity) with the Americas Learning Advisor to provide standardized learning support in a format consistent with global Retail Learning guidelines as well as local requirements and priorities for Shell corporate Retail staff development.

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen, or hold a valid work visa that does not require sponsorship in order to legally work full-time in the United States
    • Bachelors degree required. Masters preferred
    • Prior experience in HR and Commercial roles within Retail are considered. Strong experience in a Learning role with facilitation, intervention and instructional design exposure will be preferred.
    • Experience in influencing and working with a wide variety of stakeholders to achieve stand-out results is essential.
    • Fluent in spoken and written English.
    • Good project management skills
    • Must be able to take personal accountability for the delivery of outcomes
