Duties & Responsibilities


To provide the client with engineering support which includes inspection/maintenance activities, for the Integrity management of the pipelines, risers and infrastructures associated with North Sea Area assets/ pipelines in accordance with the relevant parts of the contract as required, their technical performance standards and business plan.


  • Assist the Principal Pipeline Engineer and Project Manager in providing pipeline support to North Sea Area assets/ pipelines but also other assets/pipelines where required.

  • Assist in ensuring inspection/integrity procedures are in place and as far as practicable implemented.

  • Develop (where appropriate) and maintain all relevant pipeline and subsea documentation.

  • Assist in producing inspection strategies and executing them for pipelines, risers and ESDVs.

  • Manage and implement internal and external inspections. Review data and results to assess the remaining operational life of the pipelines. Update inspection procedures to reflect results as appropriate.

  • Define monitoring data requirements for pipeline integrity and review and interpret monitoring results

  • Co-ordinate third party inspection contractors activities and progress any resulting recommendations, e.g the results of ESDV operational closure and leakage testing and update and issue of the plan.

  • Collate/compile annual reports including Technical Integrity Assessment documents.


  • Attend LM's or client safety meetings

  • Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to so far as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure a safe working environment


  • Assist in the preparation of the annual pipeline IIA budget for BP pipelines.

  • Perform ad-hoc engineering studies.

  • Ensure compliance with Oceaneering and BP HSEQ polices and systems.



Education and/or Experience (E= Essential; P= Preferred)

  • Appropriate HNC/HND qualification (E)

  • Degree in Engineering related discipline (P)

  • Considerable years of specific experience related to the job description (E)

  • Must be familiar with QA/QC systems and procedures, NDE techniques (P)

  • Ability to generate a team approach to problem solving and a good communicator, both written and verbal (E)
