We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Electrical Project Engineer within our Permian EOR group.

The Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for development and execution of projects for Permian EOR's electrical distribution and transmission system; including the management of engineering and design, standards, and daily project management from purchase power locations through end use points. Also provides new electrical technology solutions that encompass the entire Oxy organization to help make the electrical teams more effective and efficient while also providing benefits to other teams within the organization.

• Assist in setting goals and long term vision with Electrical Systems Manager
• Aligns Electrical Projects economics with goals, standards, surface operational strategies, best practices and ensures execution
• Interfaces between support functions and Asset Leads to establish and manage boundaries
• Creates an environment where members of the Project team make the day-to-day decisions
• Deliver on production, project costs, safety & environmental targets for Asset Team Electrical Projects
• Support execution of business plan
• Accountability for Electrical tools and equipment condition
• Provide a customer support
• Consult Asset teams and review electrical technology available, cost savings, and standards
• Ensure that Electrical Goals are aligned with Asset teams for each area
• Support field and plants on electrical projects
• Responsible for ensuring that cost capturing for VOW, project timelines are met, and Project process is followed
• Develop, document, and maintain standards around electrical equipment and alarm program
• Function as Oxy representative to drive contract electrical engineering
• Provide support for projects including FAT, Commissioning and Start up for all customers as requested
• Provide electrical and distribution systems data on all Electrical projects
• Provide list of electrical data sheets on all equipment to be installed on electrical projects
• Assist Master Electrical Specialists in PHA to develop a system to mitigate HES and business risk with the application of standards
• Provide electrical equipment and installation standards


• BS Degree in electrical engineering
Professional/Technical Knowledge:
• Must be knowledgeable of electrical safety requirements as found in publications such as NFPA 70E
• Must have knowledge of Arc Flash Hazards
• Knowledge of power engineering, distribution system design and construction, engineering economics and statistics, feasibility and power factor correction studies, load flow and motor starting studies, system reliability analysis, symmetrical components, voltage regulation, transformer sizing and analysis and over-current coordination principals and sectionalizing devices to include relays, breakers, sectionalizers, reclosers, and fuses, transmission system protection and control, substation design and construction principles
• NEC,NESC and OSHA standards

Professional / Technical Qualifications/Licences/Certifications:
• Experience in Electric Project management and design
• Candidates should have 3 years' experience in a similar engineering capacity

Skills & Competencies:
• Experience with managing oil and gas electrical development projects
• Contributor to business analysis and planning
• Strong communication skills (verbal/written/listening/presentation)
• Problem solving skills with ability to analyze and recommend solutions on problems
• Understanding of Surface Operational Strategies of Electrical Reliability
• General knowledge of Asset Team, Risk / AI team, IT, HES, and Automation
• Competent in oil and gas electrical systems
• Participate in process improvement and development of new technologies
• Ability to complete electrical project resource plans to ensure adequate resource levels to support the project plans
• Ensure adequate technical expertise is allocated to support projects
• Provide a customer support mentality
• Strong technical writing skills including standards documentation and record keeping
• Competent project management skills
• Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines
