The Foreman position is the accountable and lead position on a field crew. This position is responsible for personnel, equipment and customer contact through the length of any project and/or multiple projects. This position has constant contact with the general public.
•Accountable for safety of personnel, equipment, environment and company & customer property and public safety
•Leads field crews on daily projects by obtaining details of project from supervisors, determining how to proceed with equipment and evaluating timelines & respective personnel to complete projects and checking for valid "One-Call" and proper markings
•Performs manual duties with the field crew team members, such as operating moving equipment or digging trenches
•Assures that maintenance of equipment is performed and occurs according to schedules, such as checking oil in operating equipment, housekeeping of vehicles, etc. Also, reports and records any equipment defects
•Completes needed administrative tasks such as operational paperwork for company and/or customer, Human Resources paperwork and/or Safety paperwork, etc.
•Obtains timesheets (payroll) and job information (accounting/operations) from all field personnel/crews on a daily basis and processes said data accordingly
This position requires a minimum of a high school degree and 5 years of field construction and/or utility industry experience with 1-2 years of supervisory experience. Excellent project/time management skills required. Excellent customer service skills required.

This position performs manual and supervisory duties during the course of a workday.
If applicable, "light duty" may be available depending on the work location and project schedule.
The physical, emotional and environmental demands of this position take on the characteristics typical of the construction environment. This position will frequently perform duties where sitting with occasionally standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds, repetitive hand motions, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibrations, dust, odors and moving machinery are part of daily routines. The position has deadlines under pressure as well as a rare potential for irregular activity schedules. The workday includes a minimum of 8.0 hours per day with breaks taken according to the daily project schedule. This position has measurable performance criteria, must take instruction and regularly travels to job sites with a majority of time spent outdoors
•Arrive to work prior to 7:00am.
•Arrive to work rested and ready to perform your duties.
•Accurately complete the daily foreman report.
•Turn in daily DFR to your supervisor every day.
•Conduct daily JSA with all crew members on those days' hazards.
•Conduct weekly tool box talks with all crew members.
•Review and sign off on all daily pay tickets/receivers.
•Responsible for making sure quantities on pay tickets accurately represents what was done.
•Make sure Miss Utility tickets are current and area of excavation is accurately marked.
•Make sure all trucks and equipment are properly registered/ stickers and up to date on PM.
•Collect/ sign and properly code all pick tickets and turn in daily.
•Responsible for the daily safety of entire crew.
•Assure that all crew members are following all company safety policies and procedures.
•Perform competent person duties on all trench excavations.
•Make sure crew is following customer O&M standard procedures.
•Make sure crew is following State Damage Prevention guidelines.
•Responsible for getting required CM% goal.
•Manage crew size and hours to achieve productivity goals.
•Make sure all men and equipment are back in the yard prior to leaving for day.
•Make sure all tools and equipment are being taken care of.
•Make sure crew is prepared and is out of the shop by 7:15 each morning at the latest.
•Controlling overtime hours.
•Interact with customer in a professional and courteous manner.
•Complete customer required paperwork; service cards- pipe condition reports.
•Negotiate with customer to get the most favorable pricing for work performed.
•Respond to and correct any customer complaints.
