The Director, Talent Management will be an exceptional leader with proven experience in training and development. This role will partner with platform (business line) HR teams in the design, development, and deployment of innovative global talent acquisition and talent and performance management processes intended to improve depth, quality, and engagement of talent across the organization. This includes development and management of:


  • training programs
  • career paths
  • assessment tools
  • new employee onboarding
  • employee engagement surveys
  • organizational change framework
  • team effectiveness tools

The successful Director, Talent Management will be high energy, have a results and execution-focused work ethic with the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities.

This Director will be a member of the Aegion HR Leadership Team (HRLT), and his/her work will link directly back to the Aegion Values and the Aegion Way.


Talent Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an in-house training program to foster critical front-line skill needs utilizing video content, self-paced learning, and class room sessions
  • Work with the business to continuously evaluate training effectiveness and new training opportunities
  • Responsible for enterprise-wide LMS and all online curriculum
  • As needed, deliver training through classroom sessions, workshops, or individual coaching
  • Responsible for leading the Aegion Performance Management (PM) process; partners with the HR Operations to ensure appropriate HRIS capabilities to deploy the PM process annually
  • Ownership of the Aegion Way Employee Engagement Survey process
  • Serve as organization's focal point for all succession planning processes
  • Develop position-specific certification tracks, including role-required certification testing
  • Oversee training budget and vendor management of third-party training providers

Talent Acquisition

  • Lead, coach, and develop an experienced and ambitious talent acquisition team, focused on exempt positions throughout North America
  • Develop enterprise-wide HR initiatives that enhance the organization's ability to attract, assess, on-board and retain top talent
  • Oversee the effort to create a highly effective employee onboarding process, including safety training and new hire orientation
  • Partner with the Human Resources VPs, HR Operations, and Total Rewards on the design, development, and implementation of programs and processes to improve depth, quality, and engagement of talent across the organization
  • Partner with Business leaders and HR business partners to understand talent gaps and develop workforce plans for each enterprise
  • Partner with peers to ensure effectiveness of global Talent Acquisition infrastructure, including technology, processes, and practices


(Minimum Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of talent development, performance management, succession planning, and talent acquisition experience
  • Experience leading all aspects of talent acquisition and talent development processes; must have a willingness to be hands on in any part of the process
  • Experience developing and deploying enterprise learning and development strategies
  • Knowledge of selection and assessment tools and the ability to work with employees and managers to develop effective development strategies
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and HR systems
  • Exceptional process management, change management, and continuous improvement skills
  • Strong business acumen and proven track record of partnering with HR and business leaders; experience working closely with HRIS and IT preferred
  • Strong project management skills
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical skills, demonstrated experience developing and deploying meaningful metrics
