The Jr. Accountantwill perform various routine accounting functions on a daily basis and assist in audits or annual reporting requirements related to general accounting.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support Sr. Accounting staff relating to the following activities: (blue highlighted were the original duties listed)
Month End Analysis and Journal Entries
Project Accounting Analysis
Balance Sheet Reconciliations
Maintain financial records by analyzing balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
Reconcile bank accounts by gathering and balancing information.
Secure financial information by completing database backups; keeping information confidential.
Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures; complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc.
Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
Provide financial status information by preparing special reports; completing special projects.
Provide overall departmental support as needed.
Education and/or Experience
Associates’ degree in Accounting and four (4) to five (5) years’ experience in financial reporting and general ledger; Bachelor degree and at least two years of experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Have knowledge of various accounting clerk functions such as Time & Labor, Expense Reports, Match Exception Report, Inventory, Accounts Payable, and Input of AR (collections and invoicing) & Journals.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have complete knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and accounting software. Knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred.
