Position Summary

The Jr. Accountant will perform various routine accounting functions on a daily basis and assist in audits or annual reporting requirements related to general accounting.

Duties & Responsibilities

Support Sr. Accounting staff relating to the following activities: (blue highlighted were the original duties listed)

  • Month End Analysis and Journal Entries
  • Project Accounting Analysis
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Maintain financial records by analyzing balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
  • Reconcile bank accounts by gathering and balancing information.
  • Secure financial information by completing database backups; keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures; complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
  • Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
  • Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc.Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
  • Provide financial status information by preparing special reports; completing special projects
  • Provide overall departmental support as needed.


  • Associates’ degree in Accounting and four (4) to five (5) years’ experience in financial reporting and general ledger; Bachelor degree and at least two years of experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have knowledge of various accounting clerk functions such as Time & Labor, Expense Reports, Match Exception Report, Inventory, Accounts Payable, and Input of AR (collections and invoicing) & Journals.
