Position Summary The Buyer II will coordinate the procurement of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization by performing the following duties. Duties & Responsibilities * Coordinates activities related to the procurement of a product or service beginning with intent to purchase through delivery. * Analyzes and understands the requirements of the requisition to effectively execute the purchase order * Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements * Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested product or service * Negotiates the lowest total cost for the intended purchase, balanced with optimum quality to meet schedule needs * Has authority to make commitments for the company at any dollar level upon receipt of a properly approved requisition. Executes purchase orders, contracts and supply agreements in accordance with company policy, government regulations, engineering specifications, drawings, and other technical documentation * Assures that products or services are delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and in accordance with quality requirements. Expedite as required. * Maintains timely control of orders, change orders, shipping notices, NCR's, invoice discrepancies, and other documents to assure record retention accuracy. * Assist in the returning of over shipments, incorrect receipts, and other returns as necessary. * Assist with the booking and tracking of the freight with common carriers. * Assist with entering claims for carrier freight damage. * Report to the Purchasing Manager for resolution of problems and accountability. * Have the ability to use computers, calculators and other business machines. * Be able to use formulas for calculations, extensions, and discounts. * Assist with data entry.
