The position to:


Support implementation of ISO14001-compliant environmental management systems in all Qatar Shell assets.

Co-ordinate the external verification of the ISO certification

Co-ordinate environmental input to QSGTL internal and external audits

Ensure programme of internal auditing adequate to meet ISO14001 requirements

Develop and maintain Functional processes to support the Qatar Shell EMSs


This will require working closely with:

  • Production Operations staff
  • Well Engineering and Drilling teams
  • Project development and delivery teams
  • Non-operated venture managers and secondees
  • HSSE leadership team.

The Environmental Systems Adviser reports to the Qatar Shell Environmental ~Manager and will be based in Ras Laffan City, Qatar

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience - Experience and Qualifications required:


·         A strong systems professional with experience of specifying and developing management systems.


·         Experience of developing, implementing and working with Environmental management systems compliant with international standards such as ISO14001, EMAS, etc.


·         A self-starter with outstanding communication skills and an ability to work in a team.  

·         This position requires a motivated individual with high energy, team working skills, a "can do" attitude, and when required would be prepared to stretch personal and business goals.  

·         Has a thorough understanding of the Shell Group HSSE standards, matched with a clear understanding of the applicable legal requirements on environment.

·         Has the professional and personal stature to interface with, and influence, a wide variety of contacts, including management, staff, contractors, and HSSE professionals. 

·         Is able to communicate and influence effectively within a multicultural setting 

·         Has proven competence and relevant experience in a related upstream, downstream, industrial or project environment. 

·         A relevant accredited auditing qualification or membership of a professional body (e.g. Institute for Environmental Management and Assessment, IEMA) would be beneficial

·          Specific requirements: 
- Fluency in English is essential

- Skill in information management systems such as Livelink or Sharepoint
- Skill in developing and writing procedures

Overall the incumbent must have excellent interpersonal skills and be capable of performing to high standards under pressure.
