Noise and vibration control professionals are responsible for reducing the distraction, environmental impact, and hazardous conditions caused by oil and gas equipment’s noise and vibration. These individuals work across the oil and gas industry with equipment such as compressors, HVAC systems, and drilling rigs to reduce vibrations in order to keep them operating safely and to reduce noise pollution. When working in the field, these professionals will perform noise and vibration tests to determine if equipment is operating without concerns. In some instances, a regulatory agency will enforce a decibel limit for equipment, and noise and vibration professionals are responsible for making sure the equipment operates under that limit. There are numerous jobs in this field that range from technicians working in the field to engineers designing systems to reduce noise and vibration.
