OMV Pumps First Oil at Manaia Well
The Manaia well, targeting the Mangahewa formation of the Manaia structure, is now flowing oil. Now that an oil flow is established, the focus turns to production testing, said OMV New Zealand Managing Director Dr. Wayne Kirk. This will include assessing the field's production rate, oil properties and determining if additional wells are necessary. The Manaia field, located about 4 miles (6 kilometers) from Maari, is a separate geological structure, but the oil is produced through the Tiro Tiro Moana wellhead platform and into the Raroa FPSO. The field is operated by OMV New Zealand, which holds a 69% working interest, and partners on the field with Todd Maari Ltd. (16%), Horizon Oil International Ltd. (10%) and Cue Taranaki Pty Ltd. (5%).SubseaIQ provides focused, in-depth coverage of offshore field development activities around the world, with daily updates on hundreds of offshore fields and facilities.
