ConocoPhillips Drills Duster Near Ula Field



ConocoPhillips has completed the drilling of well 8/10-13 in Production License 331 in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The purpose of the well was to prove petroleum in the reservoir rocks in the Auk formation. Drilled to a vertical depth of 18,675 feet (5,692 meters), the well encountered the Auk formation with the expected reservoir rocks and quality, but it was dry. Drilled to a water depth of 220 feet (67 meters) by the Maersk Gallant, the well was plugged and abandoned. ConocoPhillips operates the license, holding a 30% interest; Statoil holds 40%; Petoro holds 20%; and Bayerngas Norge holds 10%.
