Allen: BP Macondo Well to Be Sealed by Sunday - AP

Deepwater Horizon Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill

BP's Macando well in the Gulf of Mexico should be permanently sealed by Sunday, the U.S. government's point man on the disaster said Wednesday, the Associated Press reported.

National Incident Commander Thad Allen, in remarks to reporters, said a relief well is expected to intersect the Macando well within 24 hours, with mud and cement then to be pumped in. A seal should be achieved within four days, he said.
