Reliance Hits Gas Pay Offshore India



A fourth gas discovery (KGV-D3-W1) was made in exploratory block KG-DWN-2003/1 in the Krishna Godavari Basin on the East Coast of India. Drilled by the Discoverer 534 semisub, the well reached a total measured depth of 11,486 feet (3,501 meters) at a water depth of 5,423 feet (1,653 meters). A gross gas pay zone of 125 feet (38 meters) was encountered in Pliocene-aged sands. A wire-line based modular pressure testing was performed and a collection of gas samples was collected, confirming the potential of the pay. The D3 license is operated by Reliance, holding a 10% interest.
