Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) has awarded SKSWood, a Wood Group joint venture, a two-year extension for one of the largest integrated service contracts in Asia Pacific.
SKSWood has executed and managed the offshore construction and maintenance associated with approximately 200 offshore assets for BSP since 2003. The scope of services includes work preparation and scheduling, fabrication, materials handling, electrical and instrumentation and offshore execution. The contract has the capacity to execute in excess of one million productive manhours of offshore work and will employ 1,200 people.
"We are delighted to have been awarded this significant contract extension with BSP," said Les Thomas, Group Board Director. "Our emphasis is to maintain a strong safety performance to complement the safety excellence of BSP, one of the top safety performers in Shell. SKSWood takes pride in having achieved four million manhours worked incident free in December 2009."
The extension of the contract will result in more local employment opportunities and partner enhancement of the Brunei Supply Chain. It will also generate opportunities for other local companies to provide support and ensures sustainability of local skills and businesses.
Bob Beavis, Regional Director Wood Group said, "I am delighted that BSP have granted an extension with SKSWood, this contract is fundamental to Wood Group's positioning in Asia Pacific and reflects our well established relationship with BSP and our partners in Brunei."
