Petrobras Strikes Oil in Campos Basin
Petrobras made an oil discovery in pre-salt reservoirs in the Campos Basin. The discovery was made through exploration well 6-ABL-57D-RJS well, located in Albacora Leste field's concession area, below the sandstone layer field's producer. Situated 81 miles (130 kilometers) off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, the discovery is in a water depth of 6,417 feet (1,956 meters) and at a total depth of 14,882 feet (4,536 meters). Preliminary estimates suggest the accumulation is of light, good quality oil, but further drilling will be required to assess the volumes, extent, and productivity of these reservoirs, and the possibility of using existing production and offloading infrastructure in the area.SubseaIQ provides focused, in-depth coverage of offshore field development activities around the world, with daily updates on hundreds of offshore fields and facilities.
