Belford Dolphin Arrives Offshore India

ONGC is all set to kick off its deepwater drilling campaign 'Sagar Samriddhi' with the drillship Belford Dolphin which arrived in Mumbai on November 14, 2003.

The drillship is equipped with a state of the art drilling system with DP3 class rating and is capable of drilling in water depths up to 3,000 meters. The rig is scheduled to spud its first well in Gulf of Kutch at Location GKDW-CA-1 in 1862 meters of water on November 30, 2003.

The Belford Dolphin commenced operations in late 2000 in Brazil for Petrobras, after its delivery from the Shipyard. It has earlier operated in Brazil and Trinidad for Petrobras, BP Trinidad, Kerr McGee and Agip, where directional, sidetrack, high temperature wells have been drilled in water depths of over 1,800 meters with approximate well target depths ranging over 5,500 meters.
