Kosmos, Tullow Continue Success Near Jubilee Field
Kosmos completed appraisal drilling of the southeast area of the Jubilee field. Gathered data from the Mahogany-5 appraisal well indicates it penetrated a total net oil pay of 23 meters in sandstone reservoirs over a gross interval of 51 meters. Reservoir fluid samples recovered 28 to 32 degree API oil, while pressure data confirms reservoir communication with the previously drilled Mahogany-4 well.
Drilled by the Atwood Hunter semisub, the well reached a total depth of 3,988 meters in a water depth of 1,149 meters. The rig will now leave Ghana but will return in the fourth quarter of 2010 to begin a nine-month drilling program in the West Cape Three Points license. Future exploratory drilling aims to discover additional hydrocarbons to further enhance the commercial development of the area, reported the operator. The Jubilee field is located on two licenses, Deepwaer Tano and West Cape Three Points, offshore Ghana.SubseaIQ provides focused, in-depth coverage of offshore field development activities around the world, with daily updates on hundreds of offshore fields and facilities.
