Pöyry has underlined its commitment to finding sustainable solutions for the energy industry with the appointment of a senior environmental specialist.
Dr. Nigel Wright has joined the company from Genesis and has taken up the position of Consultant Environmental Engineer. He will lead Pöyry's drive to reduce the industry's impact on the environment.
Nigel will draw on more than 26 years of experience to provide support and project management services in this area to clients. He has previously held senior positions both within engineering consultancies and major operators.
Steve Fogg, European President of Oil and Gas at Pöyry, said, "Nigel has a wealth of experience in the international energy business and his expertise in managing environmental issues and project sustainability will be a great asset to Pöyry. While each of our divisions understand the importance of ensuring all of our activity is done in a sustainable way, Nigel will provide the strategic overview to draw all of that together to ensure a cohesive approach."
Nigel completed a degree in Zoology at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne followed by a PhD in Marine Biology at the same university. He was sponsored by the US government to work for the International Coral Reef Research Program in Hawaii before completing his PhD and then undertaking his first position within the energy sector.
Nigel said, "Pöyry is a dynamic company involved in innovative projects which are pushing boundaries in the energy industry. It is an exciting prospect to be part of the team and I feel my experiences can really help the company achieve its ambitions and lead the way when it comes to environmental issues and sustainability."
