Det norske Drills a Duster in North Sea

Det norske completed the drilling of wildcat well 15/9-24 and failed to hit hydrocarbons. Drilled to a vertical depth of 7,874 feet (2,400 meters) in 266 feet (81 meters) of water, the well terminated in the Tor formation in Upper Cretaceous. The objective of the well was to prove petroleum in Middle to Lower Paleocene reservoir rocks in the Heimdal and Ty formations, but the well did not encounter the formations. The Bredford Dolphin semisub drilled well 15/9-24, the second exploration well drilled in Production License 408. The well will be plugged and abandoned.
