EnerMech Scores Safety, Training Contract

EnerMech's training division has secured a contract worth in excess of £1.4 million to provide trainers and assessors for international oil and gas contractor Saipem.

The Aberdeen company's health and safety and competency experts will support Saipem staff working on construction and pipelaying vessels, offshore drilling rigs and land based drilling projects across the world.

In addition to mechanical services and cranes and lifting equipment, EnerMech has OPITO approved training centers to provide safety and training services to the offshore oil and gas industry.

EnerMech's training programs include crane driver assessment, rigging & lifting, banksman/slinging, scaffolding, working at height awareness and a wide range of other safety categories.

EnerMech advisers are currently working at Saipem locations in Holland, Saudi Arabia, Angola, Republic of Congo and Singapore.

Phil Caton, EnerMech general manager for training, said, "Since we first started working for Saipem in 2006 the relationship has grown in tandem with our expertise in being able to provide a broad range of safety and competency training on a global basis.

"Our trainers and assessors have a proven track record for providing the latest industry approved safety courses and on-the-job training, and together with Saipem's own HSE experts we have devised a training matrix which has been adopted across the business."
