Interior to Propose MMS Split - Report

Deepwater Horizon Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill

According to reports from Dow Jones Newswires and the Associated Press, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar is set to announce plans to break up the Minerals Management Service (MMS) into two divisions. One division reportedly would focus on gathering royalties while the other would concentrate on safety inspections.

A formal announcement is expected early Tuesday afternoon.
