AWE Sees Temporary Setback at Taranaki Basin
AWE Limited announced the upper section of the Tui SW-1 well was abandoned due to problems encountered with unconsolidated formation. The Kan Tan IV semisub was moved roughly 115 feet (35 meters) and is preparing to drill a new well, Tui SW-2. The Tui SW-2 well should reach a planned total depth of about 12,221 feet (3,725 meters). Once drilling ends, the well will be cased and suspended as a possible future gas injection well. The prospect is located in mining license PMP 38158 offshore Taranaki Basin and is adjacent to the producing Tui oil field. AWE serves as the operator of the license.SubseaIQ provides focused, in-depth coverage of offshore field development activities around the world, with daily updates on hundreds of offshore fields and facilities.
