Quantum Energy Names New Managing Director

Quantum Energy announced that Garry Tanner has joined as Managing Director. He will lead Quantum's strategy and investment efforts in the upstream oil and gas sector bringing over 25 years of commercial, technical and operating experience throughout the U.S. and Canada.

In announcing the addition to the Quantum team, Wil VanLoh, Quantum's President & CEO, stated, "Garry will be a great asset to the entire Quantum organization and we are extremely excited about welcoming him to the firm. He is a successful and seasoned oil and gas executive with strong commercial and transactional skills, who also has a very deep understanding of the private equity industry. His hiring further complements our existing team and highlights our fundamental belief that to generate the best risk-adjusted returns as an investor in the energy sector, it is essential to have an organization whose senior investment professionals collectively possess financial, technical, operational and managerial expertise."

Prior to joining Quantum, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Enerplus Resources Fund where he was instrumental in growing the company from a small, financially driven enterprise to a large, technically driven company with top sector returns. Prior to joining Enerplus, Garry served as a Senior Vice President of a U.S. based energy private equity fund where he initially worked in its Houston office and then opened and ran the firm's investment office in Calgary. From 1984 to 1997, Garry worked for Exxon Company USA where he served in a variety of engineering, operational and management positions.
