SMT announced the opening of its sales and support office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The establishment of the Rio de Janeiro office follows the opening of SMT's new offices in Abu Dhabi, Moscow and Calgary making Rio de Janeiro the fourth regional office to open in the last two years.
Commenting on the announcement, Bill Stephenson, VP of Sales for the Americas, said, "The opening of SMT's Rio de Janeiro office is part of our strategic focus to provide worldwide support to our clients. Our presence in Latin America improves our ability to support our growing customer base in the region, including Petrobras, Vale, HRT, Tecpetrol, PDVSA, Norse Energy, Apache Argentina and SK Energy."

Carlos Albano, Area Manager, Latin America, will be leading the new SMT team. Mr. Albano will oversee all aspects of sales and operations within Latin America. Prior to joining SMT, Mr. Albano worked as Program Manager for Schlumberger Russia, where he developed the Project Management Office and Project Portfolios. Prior to the Russian assignment, Mr. Albano worked in Angola and Brazil as Business Development Manager where he was responsible for developing collaborative visualization solutions and Infrastructure Services for the local and international Oil and Gas operators.
SMT's Brazilian office is part of the company's ongoing effort to expand technical support on a global level and provide local language assistance to help customers improve the way they work.
