UK DTI Offers Burlington Resources Two Irish Sea Blocks

Energy Minister Stephen Timms offered a licence to Burlington Resources who had requested the Blocks to be made available "Out of Round". The offers have been made on Blocks 113/21 and 22 located in the East Irish Sea.

The offer is a "Traditional" Offshore Production Licences. The successful applicant will have a fixed period in which to decide whether or not to accept the offers.

Burlington will be required to drill one well and acquire 300 square kilometres of proprietary 3D seismic data if the exploration well is successful.

DTI undertook an environmental "Appropriate Assessment" prior to advertising these blocks to ensure compliance with European Union Environmental legislation.
