Leighton International has today announced the appointment of Russell Waugh as Managing Director of Leighton Contractors India Pvt. Ltd.
Waugh is currently CEO of Leighton Offshore and has been based in Mumbai for the past five years. He brings with him over 20 years of extensive experience in engineering, construction and general management.
"I am very pleased to appoint someone with Russell's experience and track record in India to lead our business at such an exciting time in Leighton India's growth," said David Savage, Chief Operating Officer, Leighton Holdings.
Waugh graduated in engineering in 1987 and also has a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Law. He has worked on projects in Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan, Hong Kong and Australia and helped establish Leighton India's business as Country Head in 2004.
Waugh said that he was looking forward to leading Leighton's Indian operations at a time when the growth outlook for the business across engineering and construction, oil and gas and mining were very strong.
"There is significant planned expenditure in India across a whole range of infrastructure sectors by both government and private sector clients," Waugh said.
"We have an experienced and committed team here in India, and I look forward to taking the company to the next phase of its expansion," he said.
Leighton India's current projects include the Ramanujan IT Park for Tata Realty in Chennai, India's first major building alliance project and the Pipeline Replacement II project for ONGC in the Mumbai High Field.
