Champion Technologies has announced the completion of its new $ 6.9 million research and development center at its Aberdeen-based Eastern Hemisphere Headquarters.
The building -- which has been named the Bundrant Technical Center -- will be Champion's global center of excellence for Scale Technology and has extended laboratories for Corrosion, Hydrates and Analytical work.
Harry Montgomerie, Champion Technologies' Eastern Hemisphere Division business unit manager, said, "With some of the industry's leading chemistry and chemical engineering professionals working on research and development in Aberdeen, it is essential that we provide an appropriate working environment.
"The new lab will work in partnership with existing laboratories and technical centers in the Netherlands, Houston, Calgary, Moscow and Singapore, and has been specifically designed to help deliver a more integrated and efficient service to clients."
Leading commercial architectural practice Space Solutions designed and project managed the Technical Center to meet Champion's specification.
Architecture team leader Mark Dellaquaglia said, "Champion's requirements were very precise -- to create a bespoke building and a unique working environment fitting for a global center of excellence. The building was designed and orientated around the individual lab teams' requirements and to allow for future expansion, while also conforming to the highest environmental standards.
"The building has been designed to be extremely efficient, taking advantage of natural lighting and ventilation wherever possible, as well as incorporating a range of renewable technologies. We are confident that the building will achieve a BREEAM rating of Excellent when it is assessed."
