MMS Recognizes Danos & Curole's Offshore Leadership

U.S. Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service has announced its 2010 recipients of the Offshore Leadership Award (OLA). Gene Barfield, CSP and Garrel Rowell of Danos & Curole have been recognized for their excellent dedication in developing and implementing the Subpart O workshop.

In early 2009, Gulf Coast Safety & Training Group formed a committee to assist their membership and others in the oil & gas industry by developing a model Subpart O Training Plan to meet the requirements as set forth in the MMS regulations. The GCSTG Subpart O Training Plan Committee, chaired by Gene Barfield was comprised of representatives from 4 major E&P companies, 4 independent E&P companies, and 4 contractor companies.

"Ensuring that we have common standards for competency and training across the industry is critical for creating a safe environment for all involved in offshore production. At Danos & Curole, we feel a responsibility to be involved in moving this issue forward and are proud to have two of our employees recognized for their contributions." said Paul Danos, Vice President Operations.

The objective of the award is to recognize corporate or industry employees for performing an act or service that enhances MMS's ability to meet Offshore mission objectives. Specifically, an OLA candidate must: Perform an act or service that benefits MMS's offshore mission, work directly with an MMS program office or employee and volunteer to perform the beneficial act or service.

Employees of Danos & Curole now hold a total of five Offshore Leadership Awards. Past recipients include: Hank Danos, CEO; Michael Bradshaw CSP, CHMM, SH&E Director and Gene Barfield CSP, Safety Services. This is Gene's second OLA.
