Murphy Announces More Results From Front Runner
Murphy Oil Corporation announces successful drilling results on its Front Runner prospect in Green Canyon Block 338 and its Seventeen Hands prospect in Mississippi Canyon Block 299.
Murphy has completed a successful appraisal well on its previously announced Front Runner discovery. The No. 1 sidetrack was drilled to a measured depth of 20,818 feet (19,638 feet total vertical depth) and confirmed pay sands previously encountered in the discovery well. The well was drilling by Noble Drilling's semisubmersible Noble Amos Runner. Front Runner's reserves are now estimated to be in a range of 120 to 150 million barrels of oil equivalent. The well will now be sidetracked to the Front Runner South prospect to seek additional reserves. Water depth is 3,500 feet.
At its Seventeen Hands prospect in Mississippi Canyon Block 299, Murphy is presently sidetracking its initial well to delineate a natural gas discovery. The No. 1 well was drilled to a total measured depth of 11,542 feet by Transocean Sedco Forex's drill ship, Discoverer 534 in 5,450 feet of water.
Murphy owns a 37.5% interest in and serves as operator of each of these prospects; partners are Dominion Exploration & Production Corporation, Inc., a subsidiary of Dominion Resources, 37.5%, and Spinnaker Exploration Company 25%.
