AGCC Launches 12th Oil & Gas Survey

The 12th Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce Oil and Gas Survey, sponsored once again by leading law firm McGrigors LLP, has been launched today.

A wide range of Operator, Contractor and Service companies have been invited to participate in this well established and highly regarded survey. Feedback will be used to track and to understand the issues faced by respondents within the sector and in particular how these relate to and impact upon the wider business community that the Chamber represents.

Robert Collier, AGCC Chief Executive, said, "Our aim is to gauge the trends within the sector looking at both optimism and order books in the UKCS and overseas and how this crucial industry impacts the wider business community.

"This time round, the survey will focus on Research and Development and also the sustainability of the North-east as an international centre for the industry. Other important trends in activity levels and investment are also covered."

Bob Ruddiman, Partner and Head of Energy at McGrigors added, "The 12th survey comes as we gradually emerge from recession and will prove a useful benchmark on how optimistic the oil and gas sector is about its short to medium term future. The UKCS has a worldwide reputation for its research and development skills and it will be interesting to learn how these vital roles have been impacted by budgetary constraints over the past year."

The survey, carried out by the respected Fraser of Allander Institute, represents the views of a wide range of companies, from major multinational operators and contractors through to SMEs with much fewer staff and budgets. The findings are due to be published later in the year.
