AWEL Looking for Jackup to Drill Offshore Mumbai Block

Adani Welspun Exploration Limited (AWEL), the Indian based independent Oil and Gas E & P company with assets in India, Thailand and Egypt, is planning to drill in January, 2011 in its Mumbai offshore Block MB-OSN-2005/2, situated on the west coast of India.

AWEL had won the 1191 Sq. Km. Block MB-OSN-2005/2 in NELP-VII bid round and is the operator with 100% participating interest. Water depth of this Block is 30-50 meter. Currently 3D seismic data acquisition is in progress by using Q-marine technique covering the entire Block.

After acquisition, processing and interpretation of 3D data is expected to be completed by September, 2010. AWEL plans to drill two wells during Q1 of 2011 and wants to drill these wells before onset of monsoon in May. Three more wells are planned to be drilled in next fair weather window starting September, 2011. The company is looking for a jackup of 2000 HP capacity.
