The new processing will include a high-fidelity processing sequence that incorporates true-amplitude pre-stack time migration into the processing flow. It will include matching to two previous datasets and take nine weeks to complete.
The Norne 4D processing was awarded to Geotrace based on the previous successful processing with their leading-edge capabilities in the field of time-lapse technology, coupled with High Frequency Imaging (HFI™) which produced significantly increased resolution on the seismic data.
"Statoil hopes that the HFI will increase the resolution of the time lapse signal and therefore better see detailed fluid changes at reservoir level".
The Norne field is well into its production cycle and the license holders (Statoil, Norsk Hydro, ENI, Norsk Shell and Petoro) are using 4D monitoring to monitor both saturation and pressure changes within the field.
