Daewoo Shipbuilding Bags $1.1B Drillship Order
According to The Korea Herald, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. confirmed Friday that it has secured a KRW1.246 trillion (US $1.1 billion) order from a company in the Americas to construct and deliver two drillships by March 2012.
Additionally, the South Korean shipbuilder -- the world's third-largest -- announced that it received an order from another American company to build a semisubmersible drilling rig by December 2011. The combined value of both awards is $1.6 billion, The Korea Herald noted.
Daewoo Shipbuilding did not disclose the two companies' names due to contract terms.
