Global Lifting Services Inks JV Deal with Trinidad Services Supplier

Aberdeen-based Global Lifting Services has entered into a joint venture agreement with Trinidad products and services supplier FT Farfan.

Global Lifting Services has been operating in Trinidad and Tobago for the past four years and international director of operations Kenny Wright said the time was right to form a partnership with a local business. "We chose FT Farfan because of the company's reputation built over more than 40 years as the rigging industry leader in the region.

"The agreement means we can access a wider client base, while FT Farfan benefits from becoming our exclusive distributor."

Global Lifting Services is a worldwide provider of lifting services, including manufacture, inspection, maintenance, and testing. The company -- which has its headquarters in Aberdeen and was established in 1997 -- operates in Trinidad as Global Lifting Services (Trinidad) Ltd, and has further bases in Nigeria and Egypt.

The Trinidad joint venture will be managed locally by FT Farfan rigging manager Wayne Lyons, who said, "This alliance is mutually beneficial and consistent with our business goals and vision. It means we can provide our clients with a world-class one-stop-shop, with the technical support to back that up."

FT Farfan industrial director Derek Cumming added, "We have recognised a need to expand the scope of our lifting gear services -- particularly for our marine clients -- and this initiative allows us to provide a wider range and a service meeting international standards."
