Norsk Agip Completes Wildcat Offshore Norway
|Friday, September 05, 2003
Norsk Agip has completed drilling of wildcat well 6406/1-2 in production licence 256. The drilling location was on a structure immediately west of the Kristin field.
The well was drilled to a total depth of 4477 meters below the sea surface and was concluded in rocks from the Triassic Age. The main purpose of the well was to test a prospect from the Jurassic Age.
Gas/condensate from the Cretaceous Age was proven. The well was not subject to a production test. The size of the discovery is currently being evaluated.
The drilling operations were conducted using Odfjell's semisub, Deepsea Bergen, at a water depth of 383 meters.
The well has now been permanently plugged and abandoned.
