National Career Organization Recognizes UK's Underwater Centre
The world's leading provider of subsea training, The Underwater Centre has become a preferred supplier for a national body which provides specialist careers and resettlement advice to ex-Forces personnel.
The Career Transition Partnership (CTP), which has a database of thousands of Service leavers, has approved the Fort William based facility for its range of specialist subsea training courses.
This is the latest national organization to give the Centre accreditation for its courses -- the British Accreditation Council (BAC) recently approved the Centre as its only supplier for subsea training, underlining The Underwater Centre's position as a world leader in this sector.
As part of the process for becoming a preferred supplier of CTP, the Centre management went through an extensive selection program including site visits by CTP staff and gaining references and endorsements from companies that use The Underwater Centre.
Steve Ham, general manager of The Underwater Centre, says becoming a preferred supplier will allow the Centre to focus on a very important market of experienced ex-Service employees.
"Former armed forces personnel are ideal candidates for our courses as they have an excellent range of technical knowledge and skills which can be easily transferred to our ROV and diving courses," he said.
"Working in the armed forces will often involve being away from home and this can also be the case with working in the subsea sector so ex-Service personnel tend to have the work ethic and experience which suits being either a diver or an ROV pilot.
"We are delighted to be approved as a preferred supplier to the Career Transition Partnership, in addition to our BAC accreditation. These two new seals of approval send out a very strong message about the quality of our courses and really underlines our position as the global market leader in the provision of commercial diver and ROV training."
The Underwater Centre is the only training centre in the world that offers the full range of Health and Safety Executive (HSE) commercial diving qualifications in air and mixed gas diver training, from HSE SCUBA to HSE Closed Bell diving.
The Centre's in-depth seven week training program for ROV pilots comprises a four week electronics module and three weeks working 'hands on' with the Centre's fleet of remotely operated vehicles.
